As a company that made ample contributions to charity, Fairfield Energy of Colorado Springs is well familiar with the concept of a Donor Advised Fund (DAF). For those who are unfamiliar with the concept, the Wounded Warrior Project has on their website a thorough description of the process, which is described as so:
“A donor advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite causes. If you have a donor advised fund, DAF Direct enables you to recommend grants to Wounded Warrior Project®, directly from your DAF.
How does it work?
Establish your DAF by making an irrevocable, tax deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. Any investment growth is tax free.
Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets. Recommend grants to the charities you support, with the option of being recognized or remain anonymous. If you are with Fidelity Charitable® or Schwab Charitable®, you can recommend a grant to Wounded Warrior Project using DAF Direct. The designation field allows you to indicate if your gift is in honor/memory of someone or if it is for general/program support. “
Many reputable charities and non-profit organizations use the Donor Advised Fund in order to give donors the flexibility that allows you to support and donate to all of your most favored causes.
